GLF takes System Engineers Through Their Paces
Due to the need to establish formalised training programmes within the Generation Business, which would address the needs of the business in all the required technical areas, the GLF (Generation Learning Faculty) team has developed a process to address challenges in and around power station boilers.
A detailed course was designed,
The course content covers and integrates both practical and theoretical aspects of power plant to enable a balanced professional approach to the decisions that the engineer has to make on a daily basis. A series of relevant case studies complements the programme to provide practical application and explanation of the material.
based on Eskom needs.
The boiler training was developed with inputs from nationally acclaimed experts.
The programme is currently being presented by an expert in the field, Dirk van Aarde, a former Eskom employee and now CEO of CARAB/TEKNIVA.
The TEKNIVA learning programme takes a total of 42 days to complete and gives participants comprehensive exposure in the field with the objective of developing engineers involved with boilers, pressure vessels, pre-boiler and common plant, metallurgy, pressurised systems and others.
The learning programme is not only for power station employees but any employee involved in power plant systems having engineering, operational, maintenance and technical support functions.
